The Maxcy Fisher Homestead, a re-assembled early 1700’s cape with ell and a new back addition, is situated in the historic district of Hollis, New Hampshire within walking distance to the Olde Centre. Hollis is adjacent to Nashua, New Hampshire and within easy commute to Manchester, NH. Hollis professionals also commute to Boston, Massachusetts, 45 minutes south of Hollis.
This authentic heirloom cape features a formal dining room with wide pine floors, wainscoting, brown coat plaster walls, Rumford style fireplace, and summer beam and purlin ceiling.
The study features original flooring, wainscoting, wide pine board floors and corner gunstocks. Unlike the dining room, however, the ceiling features oak beams lending an “olde English” charm to the room. A trompe l'oiel painting of the deed from Joseph and Susa Fisher to their son, Maxcy, dated 1810 is in a cupboard inside the wall panel surrounding the study fireplace. The keeping room (family room) features a fireplace with beehive oven and panel surround. As in the study, the keeping room has oak beams running across the ceiling. A wet bar offers a wine cooler, hand hammered copper sink, hand-made antique oak countertop and a Bosch dishwasher for convenient entertaining.
The ell portion of The Maxcy Fisher Homestead offers a magnificent master bedroom suite. Once again, brown coat plaster walls replicate the look of the old horsehair plaster, and a Rumford fireplace completes the coziness of the bedroom.
The master bath has its own Rumford fireplace in front of a luxurious, freestanding air-jet European styled tub sitting on an oriental “YATAK” rug made of hand screened Italian tile. A hand-thrown pottery bowl sink set atop a New England blanket chest compliments the warm colors of the tile rug, as does the slate 4’ x 6’ walk-in shower.
An addition off the back of the original homestead seamlessly joins together the old with the new. This addition includes A gourmet kitchen complete with a six burner commercial Viking stove, to inspire any cook to greatness. A soapstone countertop and sink in the center island are reminiscent of earlier times, with hand-made antique oak counter surrounds. The kitchen’s southern exposure lends light and warmth into the room with French doors leading to a deck and pergola areas.
The second level offers 3 additional bedrooms, a full bathroom and a family laundry area. The home has a fire suppression system.
